We're happy to announce our advanced glimpse of our 2012 Show Schedule. We are usually prepared to release our show schedule by September 1. We're happy to say we're ahead of schedule. Keep in mind, that all booth location are dependant on your application submital timing.

The earlier we receive your Exhibitor Application the more of a chance you will have a much better booth location than had you waited to submit at a later date.

Thank you for your continued participation during the past 12 years. We look forward to seeing you during the current second half of 2011 and during during the 2012 Show Season. As you can see, we are returning for a 4th show in the Houston, TX area and are stopping in Spokane, WA in May of 2012 which is a huge underserved paper craft market. We plan on drawing from Eastern, Washington state,Idaho and Montana at this location. Plans are already underway to market this area heavily in advance of the show which will be held at the beautiful Mirabeau Park Convention Center.

It appears that thhe economy is re-bounding at a much slower pace than expected during this second half of 2011.

On apositive note, the economy IS at least rebounding at a 3% or better clip. The vast majority of our shows this year have achieved our expectations for which we're happy to report publicly. We forsee a slight growth curve into 2012 and a much stronger second half for 2012 prior to the Presidential election in November. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

In a major move our organization will shift much of it's marketing and promotion to "Outdoor Advertising". In 2008, 2009 and 2010 we saw a significant de-valuation of our print (newspaper advertising) and now will move much of that line item over to our Paper Craft shows by way of Outdoor Advertising.

This will begin with Tucson Arizona where we will have 5 skillfully position billboards throught the inner core of the City of Tucson.

New Colorado Springs Venue to be announced soon

We are about to go under contract for our new show home for Colorado Springs. It was a challenge since there was very little time to make a selection and so few choices. I personally flew up to Colorado Springs last week to check out 5 venues and I am very comfortable with the selection. It is most unfortunate that the Phil Long Expo Center is sold. It is with great regret that Specialized Events has learned that the Phil Long Expo Center has been sold to a local Coorado Springs church organization who wishes to turn the center into a worship place and corporate headquarters.

The Phil Long Expo Center has been the home to the Rubber Stamp and Scrapbok Expo for the past 7 years.

Specialized Events is in curent negotiations with another local venue and that venue will be announced within one to two weeks. For more information we have the following news article from the Colorado Gazette Newspaper. Thank you for your understanding.

The Phil Long Expo Center, the area’s largest indoor venue for everything from home-and-garden shows to auto expositions to business meetings, will close its doors by year’s end and reopen as a worship center under an agreement between its owner and a local church.

The Springs Church, a fast-growing nondenominational church on Colorado Springs’ north side, will pay $5 million to buy the expo center from Five West Holdings LLLP, a partnership headed by Phil Long Dealerships CEO Jay Cimino. Phil Long is one of Colorado’s biggest auto groups, with dealerships in the Springs, Denver, Trinidad and Raton, N.M.

The deal is scheduled to close Nov. 15, said Cimino and Springs Church senior pastor Gary Wilkerson. The church has agreed to pay $2 million now and the balance over five years, Cimino said. Springs Church is financing its purchase, in part, with the help of Times Square Church, a New York City megachurch led by Wilkerson’s father, David.

Wilkerson said the Springs Church plans to remodel the expo center and create a 2,000-seat auditorium that will host its first service Jan. 2.

Wilkerson and Cimino said the deal is a plus for both Springs Church and Phil Long. The church has seen a nearly four-fold increase in attendance and needs more space, while the expo center — although popular with many groups — has been hard hit by the economy.

“It loses money,” Cimino said. “We should have converted it to a nonprofit because it does so much good for the community.”

The church first expressed interest several months ago; the deal isn’t related to the expo center’s recent 20-day liquor licence suspension for serving alcohol to underage drinkers, Cimino said, adding that Phil Long wants to concentrate on its core business of selling and servicing vehicles.

Expo center events through December will take place as scheduled. Deposits for events next year are being returned, said Trevor Mack, Phil Long’s chief financial officer.

The building housing the expo center, near the Chapel Hills Mall on the city’s north side, had been a former Home Base home improvement store, which Five West bought for $5.2 million in 2002.

The next year, the building opened as the Phil Long Expo Center, with about 90,000 square feet of space for meetings and exhibitions, a patio and atrium, a concession area, washrooms and loading docks and drive-in doors to allow equipment to be moved in and out.

Many of the area’s largest and best-known consumer-oriented trade shows use the center, and organizers of those events are wondering where they’ll go.

The Springs is one of the nation’s largest cities without a municipal convention center. Several local venues — including the World Arena, the Norris-Penrose Event Center and a few larger hotels — have meeting and exhibition space, but none has a large block of contiguous, open floor space on the order of the expo center.

The Broadmoor hotel’s Broadmoor Hall has 60,000 square feet of floor space and additional room in Colorado Hall and International Center. The Broadmoor, however, markets its venues to national and international groups whose attendees stay at the posh five-star hotel and resort — not consumer shows that attract mostly local residents.

“In this town, we don’t have a convention center, we don’t have a large space like that available to do conventions and trade shows,” said Kirk Standley, event manager for the Housing and Building Association of Colorado Springs. “It’s going to have an impact on a lot of people.”

The HBA’s annual home and garden show, a 56-year staple in the community, has been held the last five years at the expo center, and uses about 75,000 square feet. With 6,000 people attending, it’s the HBA’s second-largest event after the Parade of Homes.

“We’re looking at what big-box commercial space is available in town,” Standley said.

The Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce has conducted its annual Springs Business Expo at the Phil Long venue since 2004, said senior vice president Jenifer Furda. The venue’s prices fit the chamber’s budget, and it had plenty of size for the 35,000-square-foot event, she said.

The expo center wasn’t perfect; parking was limited and many chamber attendees parked on the street and down the block, she added.

Jim Wear, president of Pro Promotions Inc. in Monument and one of the state’s largest special event production companies, has staged the annual Super Show and Swap Meet for five years at the expo center. The custom car and motorcycle show, which also features auto supply, t-shirt, jewelry and food vendors, draws people from as far away as Pueblo and New Mexico, Wear said. The two-day event averages 10,000 people in attendance, and easily generates upward of $1 million in economic impact at hotels, restaurants and stores, he estimated.

With several empty big-box stores in the Springs right now, there’s a great opportunity for someone to turn a former grocery or electronic store into an expo center-like venue, Wear said.

ABOUT THE CHURCH

• The Springs Church was founded in April 2009 by senior pastor Gary Wilkerson. It rents space on the north side, but sought a bigger venue after weekly attendance grew to about 1,100 from 300.

• In addition to a 2,000-seat auditorium, the Phil Long Expo Center would provide room for World Challenge Ministries, the church’s nonprofit outreach organization. Space also is needed for development of services such as men’s and women’s ministries.

• The church doesn’t plan to rent expo center space to other users at this time.

Greetings! Our 2011 Exhibitor Application is now available for downloading. Simply click on the Exhibitor Info tab and scroll down and download, print,complete and fax or mail.

For 2011, we will be assigning booth space from the front to back of venues depending on the date stamp on each individual Exhibitor Application. The ONLY exception is when an exhibitor has purchased an upgrade (corner premium).

We have a very exciting show schedule for 2011, with some minor tweeks and adjustments, all possitives to look forward to. Our marketing will continue to shift to where consumers are migrating, to on line. Our industry magazines although doing their best to hang onto their readers are continuing to lose readers and subscribers. With that in mind, we must still make our on-line applicatiosn work for us including increasing our e-mail lists and contact with our paper crafters.

During 2011, we expect another 1-2 scrapbooking and/or stamp magazine to cease publication. Reliance on these magazines in decline is NOT wise, so we're moving ahead and doing more banner ads on local web sites etc..... We prefer to NOT share all our marketing projects on this open board but would be happy to discuss in-person with any our exhibitors.

I want to field a question that is sure to pop up regarding the Florida shows that WERE slated for February 2011. After much effort, research and numerous phone conversations, I personally feel that it to NOT be in the best interest of SEI to re-enter this geographic area. Retailers are still closing at a fairly good clip in Florida with another retail store closing Sept. 30th near Ft. Lauderdale.

On a brighter note.....

2010 has been am improved year over 2009 and we see 2011 as another re-building year with the economy strengthening and consumer spending increasing 3 to 4%. Some economists are even more optimistic.

RE: Tinley Park Expo (This Weekend)

Greetings! We've been so busy wrapping things up for our 2011 show year that I almost forgot about our Exhibitor Blog.

This weekends show at Tinley Park is very exciting to resport that there is a 3% increase in advance ticket sales. Classes are over 80% of capacity and we're excited to have so many fine exhibitors at the Tinley Park's 8 year Anniversary.

The tax rate for this weekends show is 8.5% inc. State, County and City of Tinley Park.

Safe travels. For those of you traveling to the show for the very first time, the Convention Center is at Harlem Ave. and I-80, about 25-30 minutes from Midway Airport.

Hotel Rooms are hard to come by due to our show and the H U G E NASCAR event in Joliet, IL. rates are high in Tinley park. The further you get away from the vicinity the lower and more available rooms are. Just wanted to clue you all in for the "last minute" reservationist! May our fantastic year continue for our shows!!!!!!!!!! Our year has been up from 2009 significantly in some markets.

Our hotel block is nearly full at the Riviera Hotel & Casino, filled by both show attendees and exhibitors. The cut off date for the last 25 rooms/nights is February 11th. Before the cut-off date any remaining rooms are available for $79 otherwise after Feb. 11 room rates will go by the "prevailing and available rate" which can be over $100 per night.

Top 10 2010 Exhibitors to be Announced

This week - Scott will be announcing the Top 10 Exhibitors for 2010. What is the Top 10? Well, since we've been assigning booth space last year we have been assigning exhibitors booth space from the front of all show venues to the back. It's exciting to announce TRUE early bird exhibitors. Since I and Jill handle the data entry and most exhibitor details, Scott doesn't even know all of the top 10. I am sure he has a good idea because some are first every year.

We have just added date(s) for a show in the Seattle/Tacoma, WA area. This will be our 4th Show and will take place on July 30 & 31, 2010. Our on-line Exhibitor Application refelcts this 2010 addition. We're VERY happy to be out of the Fair Grounds. According to a new ranking from BusinessWeek, Austin is the second strongest city in the nation right now, right behind No. 1 San Antonio.

BusinessWeek used research from the Brookings Institution that looked at a number of factors across the 100 largest U.S. metro areas, including job growth, gross metro product, unemployment change and home prices. Austin won praise for its relatively low unemployment rate and stable housing picture.

Texas came out well ahead of the other 49 states. Not only did San Antonio and Austin rank first and second respectively, but Texas had five cities among the top 10.

Greetings!

We are proud to announce that the Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo Tour 2010 will include a RETURN to beautiful Rhode Island! Show Dates are: April 24 & 25, 2010 and will again be at the convenient location, the Community College of Rhode Island.

This show replaces the originally scheduled show in Manchester, NH which we were unable to negotiate an agreeable contract for 2010 which also included numerous risky contractual clauses.

Our track record in Providence, RI (Warwick, RI) has been very, very good and this will be the 8th Annual show in Rhode Island. We have an established database also. We listened to several previous exhibitors while making this solid decision.

Sales at U.S. retailers rose at their fastest pace in three-and-half years in August as government-sponsored auto incentives buoyed demand for motor vehicles, according to data on Tuesday that also showed strong sales outside the auto sector.

Inflation also posted a large gain, while New York manufacturing also jumped, according to separate reports.

The Commerce Department said total retail sales climbed 2.7 percent, the biggest monthly advance since January 2006, after declining by a revised 0.2 percent in July. Sales in July were previously reported to have eased 0.1 percent.

Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast retail sales rising 2.0 percent in August. Sales in August were a bolstered by the government's "cash for clunkers" program, which gave consumers cash to swap aging gas-guzzlers for new, more fuel efficient models. High gasoline prices also added to the rise in sales.

Motor vehicle and parts sales surged 10.6 percent in August, notching their biggest rise since October 2001. The auto scheme ended in August.

The retail sales report also showed signs of strength across almost all sectors, with the exception of furniture and building materials, evidence that household spending was probably mending. It also added to views that the economy was starting to emerge from its worst recession in seven decades.

Excluding motor vehicles and parts, sales jumped 1.1 percent in August after falling 0.5 percent in July. Economists had expected a 0.4 percent increase.

Gasoline station sales jumped 5.1 percent in August, reflecting a surge in gasoline prices during the month, after falling 1.5 percent in July. Excluding gasoline, retail sales rose 2.4 percent versus a 0.1 percent fall in July. Sales of building materials declined 1.2 percent in August after falling 1.8 percent in July.

Honolulu, Hawaii 2010 Expo

Well, we're heading back to Oahu and Honolulu for our 3rd Annual show. For those of you returning you know there is a limit of 25 exhibitor spaces. To get to this number we would prefer everyone adhere to the maxumum of a 10 X 20 foot space for this show only. This will allow 5-6 feet of space between booths as well.

A number of attendees from ther past two shows have eother written via e-mail or called about another Honolulu show. Airfares between Oahu and the other islands has gone down in price making the 2010 show probably even more attended by paper crafters from the other islands. Needless to say, there's been quite lot of chatter over in Hawaii.

If you haven't alredy downloaded the Early Bird Exhibitor Application for 2010 the Hawaii show also is listed and booth space is as low as $500 for a 10 X 10 now through October 1, 2009 for the 2010 shows.

As for grid rental and hardware associated with grid displays we have a super source for renting this for the show in Honolulu.

As previously communicated on the Exhibitor Blog by Scott, we now have on-line the EARLY BIRD EXHIBITOR APPLICATIONS. A $100 per show deposit will hold these lower booth fees for the upcoming show year 2010.

It is important to note that the EARLY BIRD APPLICATIONS will ONLY BE ON-LINE now through October 1, 2009 and will not be accepted beyond THAT DATE. 2010 rates as specified will go into effect October 1, 2009 and into 2010.

Now here's your chance to save up to $150.00 on booth fees for 2010. ONE EXHIBITOR APPLICATION PER SHOW. Please include include at least one copy of page 2 and one signed copy of page 3. If you are paying by credit card we require a signature on the bottom of page two.

Greetings!

Some time in the next week or so we will upload our new THREE-PAGE 2010 Exhibitor Application. YES, that was NOT a typo, I said "Application" as in ONE. It seems like I am in a "simplification mode". If I can make anything easier for our exhibitors, I am all for it! There will be ONE APPLICATION and all Exhibitors have to do is simply check off which specific show they are applying for. One application per show.

NOW ON TO THE GOOD STUFF.............

As a nice economic jesture once the new 2010 Exhibitor Application is uploaded it will include an EARLY BIRD section good for up to $150.00 in savings off booth fees for 2010. Due date for all Early Bird Exhibitor Applications is October 1, 2009. Early Bird Special rates will dissapear on October 1st from the web site and must be rec'd by 10/1/09 by mail, e-mail or fax. There will be no exceptions. After 10/1/09current 2009 booth fees will be in effect permanently throuh 2010.

As with the current Exhibitor Application, ALL THREE PAGES MUST BE SUBMITTED. No exceptions as David Gyongyos, our attorney has advised us to return all incomplete applications.

PAGE ONE of the new Application will include Name, address etc., booth fees, credit card authorization etc.

PAGE TWO
Contains your EXHIBITOR PROFILE which is now used on our web site and is viewed by web site visitors and show attendees. (required)

PAGE THREE includes our show RULES AND REGULATIONS promoter/venue liability language. Again, ALL THREE PAGES MUST BE COMPLETED with no exceptions per our legal council. We now will require 100% acknowledgement for you to be a part of our shows.

In closing, I would personally like to thank you for your continued support and we are doing our part to contain costs and to provide superior results. We are looking at a much stronger 3rd and 4th Quarter and economists are also supporting this sentiment.

We are looking at markets such as Austin, TX in 2010 where the local economy is strong and never waivered while the rest of the USA drifted downward. Many factors point to optimism overall. We feel we have a super show schedule on tap for 2010 that allows exhibitors especially traveling on the road an advantage by having back to back shows. We are returning after a brief hiatus to markets such as Manchester, NH, Honolulu, HI and Houston, Texas.

If any exhibitors have a suggestion for 2010 please let us know as soon aspossible. we will be having some new show as well as making a couple deletions as we do every year. It is sometimes good to come and go from a specific market and then return. This has always been our shows practice and it's proven to be a wise practice. Again. Consumer Confidance Rises to Nine Month High

U.S. consumer confidence rose to a nine-month high in June but failed again to surpass its level of September 2008, when the spectacular failure of Lehman Brothers sent the world economy into a tailspin, a survey showed on Friday.

The Reuters/University of Michigan Surveys of Consumers said its preliminary index of confidence for June rose to 69.0 from May's 68.7. That was slightly below economists' expectations of 69.5, according to a Reuters poll.
Worryingly, the report's gauges of inflation expectations rose to their highest in months, creating concern for the Federal Reserve, which has pumped money into the financial system to spur recovery from the worst recession in decades.
For the third month now the overall consumer sentiment reading was at its highest since the Lehman debacle last September, which caused severe strains in financial markets, while not breaking through that month's level of 70.3.
Indeed, the economic damage done by that episode is still being felt and may linger for a long time to come, consumers worry, overshadowing perceptions of economic recovery.
"Job and income uncertainty, however, remained high and constitute a significant barrier for completing planned purchases,'' the Surveys of Consumers said in its report.
"The economic recovery was thought to be weaker than originally anticipated, leading consumers to expect a longer period of time before the recovery gets underway.''
Reflecting ongoing worries, consumers' assessment of the 12-month economic outlook fell, with that gauge declining to 61 in June from 75 in May.
Their one-year inflation expectations rose to 3.1 percent in June — the highest since October 2008 — from May's 2.8 percent. The five-year inflation outlook rose to 3.1 percent in June from May's 2.9 percent. That was the highest in the long-term inflation expectations since February this year.

Really Exciting News to report

It is with great excitiment that I am able to report that this past weekend in Saint Paul, MN's expo we had Not 1,2 3,or 4 BUT 5 Exhibitors break their ALL-TIME sales volume records! It was quite a nice weekend although very chilly Saturday morning. Our attendance on Saturday was actulayy only up by 166 heads and Sundays attendance was down by just under 280 heads. The weather as we know had something to do with Sunday as it was a beautiful day.

In other Saint Paul news we are also moving our Fall Show Dates a week later to October 10-11th, 2009 as we were slated to be inside the Fine Arts Building which is not able to handle our show and educational needs for the twin cities show. There was a mix up with the fairs scheduling and with nearly 5 months advance notice we'll be able to change out our advertising etc. with plenty of notice. Our direct mail post cards go out 3 weeks prior to show dates anyways and newspaper ads the week of the show.

A letter will go out to all exhibitors also explaining our minor date change.

Television ads seen by over 300+ in Milwaukee

Our registration records indicate that over 300+ show attendees referred to Television as a source for their knowledge of the Milwaukee show this past weekend. These numbers are skewed lower than reflected but offer some insight on what can add to our attendance in this market. We aired 60 ads on CBS58 and also on ME TV. We have secured a contract with CBS abd ME TV for our fall media blitz as well. We're excited to have televison and print media for the fall again combined we have a super combination which obviously brought great success for the Milwaukee show. Our media campaigns is what sets up apart fro any other such consumer trade show like ours. Thnak you to all particpants in Milwaukee. Scott

Big Milwaukee Attendance

I am sure the swine flu media coverage in Milwaukee did not help our successful show BUT in spite of it all we had a super expo. Our attendance in Milwaukee was up significantly, over 16% over our fall show. In the fall we will be having two entrances as we did on Sunday which allowed better traffic flow at the Waukesha Expo Center. Consummer spending is still lagging in this region BUT improving. Thanks to all who made it happen, the 45 exhibitors!!! Scott

Greetings all! Looks like we're getting closer to having our entire web site fully functional. I never envisioned that it would take so much time and effort. Thanks to Rich at SkyPro Web Services for his patience and hard work on our transition. New Web Site Update

It looks as though our new web site may be launched some time between April 25th and June 15th. I have maintained and designed all the web pages thus far with our company and it's now time to move on and have someone with REAL web knowledge design experience to be our new web architech. I have seen the beginnings of the index page and it will be state of the art and we have shown the NEW logo to you already on our current site.

The new site will look clean, be much more user friendly and be the very best in the paper craft industry. With every web page launch there are always a few bugs to be worked out and I am sure we'll have our fair share. I am really excited and can't wait to show everyone our realy clean new look. I hope you are having a great year so far.

We are seeing the early signs of s strengthening economy. The dow is now above 8000 and we still have higher than normal unemployment to be dealt with. Economists are saying the worst is behind us and I love the tone of that as I am sure you do too.

We are seeing our shows do well even during this so-so economy. We trust this will only improve with the year going forward. I have faith in our current administration to lead the country forward. We all know what the last one did to our country. End of story and I will hold off on any further commentary.

Average Ticket Sales On The Increase

Our report from the Glendale and Tucson shows reveals that "average ticket sales) ATS is on the increase froma low in QTR 4 in 2008. This is very good news for our exhibitors within our industry. Our poll of exhibitors in Tucson in particular revealed an increase in "liquid" spending.

If there are exhibitors holding out in sending in their Exhibitor Applications for the Fall Milwaukee show on October 24 & 25 we have ONLY 6 Exhibitor spots remaining. We are pleased to announce that we have negotiated with the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper an ad campaign un-matched by any other show within our industry.

We will be placing a FULL PAGE-FULL-RUN ad inside the Orlando Sentinel. This fine publication has a readership of just over 650,000. In addition, we will also run two 1/8 page ads during show week. Our full page ad will appear in Section A (Main News)AND WILL RUN ON Wed. Feb 18th, 2009. As ALWAYS, you can count on Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo to go the EXTRA MILE when it comes to marketing. Our advertising expenditures for BOTH Orlando and Fort Lauderdale combined will exceed $11,000.00.

We're proud to promote our shows so our vendors reap the greatest rewards while other shows continue to suffer due to POOR SHOW PROMOTION and FOOT TRAFFIC.

I must apologize for my tardiness for with the wedding, I was slightly focused on Jill's and my special moment together becoming One. Thank you to all the nice cards, presents and well-wishes. It was amazing! You're so wonderful. Jill and I can't thank you enough. We're just now getting settled after the wedding and are of course both back to work. I have already scrapbooked and archived 20 plus pages! Quite an acomplishment. We're still awaiting our professional wedding pictures and video.

Well, the reason for this blog entry was simply to mention that I have finally uploaded the 2009 Exhibitor Kit. The Exhibitor Kit is located inside the the Exhibitor Area.

Happy New Year Everyone! Just a new process that I wanted everyone to be aware of. For the past 10 years we have been corresponding with our exhibitors via USPS (The mail) from the post office.

Recently, we have begun e-mail all booth space reservation confirmations for DEPOSITS and EXHIBITOR APPLICATIONS. We will no longer be confirming anything by mail. Be sure to watch your "in" boxes for e-mails from us in the future.

Only a few more weeks until our first shows in Florida and then Arizona. Enjoy yoiur down time while you can and Happy NEW YEAR to all!

NEW Wholesale Hours at our 2009 Shows

We now will have designated WHOLESALE HOURS starting in 2009 for our exhibitors who sell wholesale. Store owners with store fronts will be required to show a state re-sale license including a business card. Qualified store owners will recieve complimentary "daily" admission. Wholesale hours are: Saturday: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Information will be sent to area stores 4-5 weeks prior to our shows in every market. With the wholesale market slowing, we wanted to give our exhibitors some sort of potential boost and additional sales.

Milwaukee Fall Show audit completed AND THE RESULTS ARE SHOCKING (In A Good Way)

Well, so much for a down and depressed economy. Based on the attendance numbers, our recent Milwaukee show resulted in the following:

594 NEW, yes NEW show attendees
Total attendance: 3016

This was our largest Milwaukee show since the spring of 2005.
Consumer sentiment was extremely POSITIVE as the exhibitors who participated are aware of.

Thank you for wrapping up the year on an extremely high note. If this and any of the 2nd half of 2008 are any indicator 2009 will be a great year. OR, if you listen to the media (with the exception of CNBC) we might as well bury ourselves in a hole for 6 months.

Well, we're choosing to continue to ride the HIGH ROAD and are very OPTIMISTIC actually. We have the best exhibitors in the business and some very IMPRESSIVE NEW ones for 2009 on board too. Our marketing campaign is larger and more visible than ever and we're using "technology" to the fullest to remain competitive and on-top of our game!

I can't say "thank you" enough" to all 356 different exhibitors who participated in our shows during 2008. Hats off to YOU!

Milwaukee Expo posts large increase in Attendance

After calculating and factoring in all items that go into figuring a gate count we are happy to report that the Milwaukee show this past weekend took a a large move upward in show attendance. It was "obvious" this was the case but it's good to REALLY know by how much the show grew. In fact, show attendace was up 16% from our already strong showing for the Spring Milwauke show in late March 2008.

Our print media national blitz coupled with a "local" campaign all were contributers. Also shuffling through several registration forms we are pleased to see that many are traveling from the Western Metro area which re-confirms what our previous reserch suggested making our 2009 show sites right on target.

This strong showing would lend to suggest that even in a down economy, our shows fare well and possibly even better in this instance than one would think if you listened to the media. Never seen so many Obama supporters are there are here in Wisconsin. Thank you to all who participated in this final show of ther year for Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo. 9 Exhibitor spaces remain for the Spring 2009 show here in Milwaukeee.

The Hawaii General Excise Tax (GET) was established in the 1930s and is somewhat unique in that it taxes both goods and services at every level, including food and medical care. It is not the same as the retail sales tax found on the mainland. The GET is currently 4% statewide except on Oahu where a 1/2% surcharge was imposed starting 1/1/2007 to fund rail mass transit. All goods and services on Oahu, including the City and County of Honolulu are taxed at 4 1/2% of gross sales.This GET is assessed on the provider of the goods and services and in turn passes the cost on to the consumer at a rate of 4.712% on Oahu and approx. 4.2% on Neighbor Islands.
